Kateri Jung-Sook Son
Kateri Jung-Sook Son joined Hanger, Steinberg, Shapiro & Ash as a law clerk in January 2024.
Ms. Son earned her Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law in May 2025, graduating cum laude and being elected to the Order of the Coif. During law school, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the National Association of Administrative Law Judiciary, overseeing publication operations and scholarship development. Her own article, Flowing Cleanly: The Proper Roles of the Courts and the FTC in the Information Marketplace of Advertising, was published in May 2025.
Before joining the firm, Ms. Son worked as a law clerk for a government agency, gaining firsthand experience with regulatory processes and public-sector legal practice. She also gained corporate and policy experience through Pepperdine’s Community Justice Clinic, which serves as general counsel to nonprofit organizations around the world.
Ms. Son graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in History.
Outside of the office, she enjoys figure skating and exploring coffee shops throughout Los Angeles.
