Joette M. Carini
Joette M. Carini joined Hanger Steinberg Shapiro & Ash in April 2018. Her practice varies, as she represents clients in personal injury, habitability, real property, and landlord-tenant disputes. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Carini worked as a law clerk at a medical malpractice defense firm, where she conducted complex research regarding healthcare provider liability, mental illness treatment liability, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation center liability.
Ms. Carini obtained her Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law while concurrently earning her Certificate in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine’s Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. During her time at Pepperdine, Ms. Carini enjoyed being the Membership Chair of the American Constitution Society as well as a member of the Moot Court Board. Ms. Carini also took advantage of Pepperdine’s London program, where she was able to extern in a barrister’s chambers outside of the Royal Courts of Justice and compete in oral argument competitions on Pepperdine’s International Moot Court Team.
In anticipation of attending law school, Ms. Carini earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Law and Public Policy from California Lutheran University in 2014. Throughout her time at Cal Lu, Ms. Carini remained on the Dean’s List, was involved in the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science National Honor Society, as well as the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, and received the Departmental Distinction award from the Political Science Department upon graduation.
In her spare time, Ms. Carini likes to take her dog to local dog parks, visit her family in San Diego, and travel.
