Jody Steinberg
Jody Steinberg is a founding member of the firm and currently serves as its President and Managing Partner. A seasoned trial attorney with over 35 years of civil litigation experience, Mr. Steinberg has successfully handled a wide spectrum of complex matters in both state and federal courts, including cases involving personal injury, real estate and business disputes, landlord-tenant and habitability claims, civil rights, and intellectual property. He is regularly called upon to handle high-stakes cases through all phases of litigation, including trial and appeal. Mr. Steinberg is also a member of ABOTA, a prestigious organization whose membership is limited to the top trial attorneys in the country.
Mr. Steinberg’s work has led to multiple published appellate decisions, most notably Van Horn v. Watson, a landmark California Supreme Court decision addressing the scope of the state’s Good Samaritan statute. Although the court ultimately limited the statute’s protections, Mr. Steinberg’s advocacy in that case prompted legislative reform through Assembly Bill 83, which broadened protections for individuals who voluntarily assist others in emergencies.
In the courtroom, Mr. Steinberg has earned a reputation for decisive trial victories. In Souch v. Zemel, a personal injury and habitability case, the court granted non-suit on nine of plaintiff’s claims, and the jury returned a unanimous 12-0 defense verdict on the remaining causes of action in under 15 minutes. In Cole v. Wolfe, he successfully defended against a $2 million claim arising from an alleged dog attack, securing a complete defense verdict. Mr. Steinberg has received multiple defense verdicts, as listed by the Los Angeles Daily Journal in its Top Verdicts. On three occasions, courts have granted non-suits in favor of clients represented by Mr. Steinberg.
