Azali M. Jeffrey
Ms. Jeffrey joined Hanger, Steinberg, Shapiro & Ash as a law clerk in May 2024 and became an attorney in 2025.
Ms. Jeffery successfully obtained summary judgment in favor of the defendants in Cooperman v. Luskin, a real estate dispute arising from the sale of residential property in Encino. The court granted the motion on statute of limitations grounds, finding that the plaintiff’s fraud and negligent misrepresentation claims were time-barred as a matter of law because publicly available records, MLS listings, and transaction disclosures placed the plaintiff on inquiry notice of the alleged lot size discrepancy years before the lawsuit was filed. In granting the motion, the court concluded that the plaintiff had constructive notice of the relevant facts no later than 2015, rendering the 2022 complaint untimely and eliminating any triable issue of material fact.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law in May 2025, along with a Certificate in Business and Finance from the Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law. During her time at Pepperdine, she studied abroad at the University’s London campus and was an active member of both the Women’s Legal Association and the Black Law Students Association. Ms. Jeffrey also gained valuable in-house experience as a legal intern for Organon, a global women’s pharmaceutical company, where she worked on matters involving mergers and acquisitions and regulatory compliance.
Before attending law school, Ms. Jeffrey earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Spanish from the University of Houston.
Outside of the office, Ms. Jeffrey enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with her family and friends.
